Mukesh Ambani, Mittal Leaders Join Global AI Commission Led by ITU and Salesforce

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Enterprises founder Sunil Bharti Mittal, and ArcelorMittal Executive Chairman Lakshmi N. Mittal have joined the newly launched AI for Good Global Commission, an international initiative led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Salesforce. The commission brings together more than 40 global leaders from governments, businesses, academia, and international organizations to promote the responsible development and adoption of artificial intelligence.

What Is the AI for Good Global Commission?

The AI for Good Global Commission has been created to strengthen trust in AI, expand global access to the technology, and encourage its use in solving real-world challenges. The initiative is co-chaired by Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, while ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin serves as Vice-Chair.

Indian Business Leaders Join Global AI Mission

India’s representation includes Mukesh Ambani, Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Lakshmi Mittal, highlighting the country’s growing influence in the global AI ecosystem. Their participation reflects India’s increasing role in shaping AI policy, digital infrastructure, and responsible technology development.

Key Goals of the Commission

  • Build trust and transparency in artificial intelligence.
  • Expand AI access to developing nations.
  • Bridge the digital divide for billions of people still offline.
  • Promote responsible AI governance and international cooperation.
  • Encourage AI solutions for healthcare, education, sustainability, and economic development.

Why It Matters

With AI evolving rapidly, governments and technology companies are working together to establish common standards for safety, ethics, and accessibility. The commission aims to ensure AI benefits people globally rather than increasing digital inequality. One of its priorities is extending AI opportunities to the estimated 2.2 billion people who remain without internet access.

Looking Ahead

The AI for Good Global Commission will hold its inaugural meeting during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva. Its recommendations are expected to influence future international AI policies and encourage collaboration between governments, technology companies, and global institutions to build trustworthy and inclusive AI for everyone.
